Purpose

Hi guys!
So just wanted to say that the reason I started this blog was not just to document my experiences as a Pre-Vet student here at UMASS, but also to hopefully give out helpful advice that I learned from the things I do here and advice I received from upperclassmen who went through the same path that I am now on.
I know that trying to get into vet school is a difficult thing and then becoming a veterinarian is even more difficult. Therefore, I hope that the things I post here turn out to be helpful to those who are pursuing a career in veterinary medicine or any kind of work with animals!

Introduction

Hi, everyone. My name is Annie Le and I am currently a sophomore at the University of Massachusetts Amherst studying Animal Science on the Pre-Vet track (hence the title of my blog). In addition to my studies, I am also pursuing a minor in Wildlife Conservation and Ecology. As of right now I have taken interest in possibly pursuing wildlife/exotic medicine, but I have yet to gain experience in that field. I plan to gain as much knowledge and hands on experience working with various species with veterinary care so that I can determine exactly what kind of veterinarian I would like to be in the future.
I decided to start a blog last year so that I may document any and all experiences I gained from my time here at UMASS. However, I was still figuring my way out as a freshman and was overwhelmed by the coursework and never worked on it. Now, I decided would be a prime time to start out a blog. Entering my sophomore year, I feel calmer and have gathered my wits together to feel comfortable in handling my coursework along with my leisure time, which includes blogging. Blogging has been something I always wanted to do, yet I never found time to commit myself to posting. One of my first experience with blogging came from my love of reading. I follow several book blogs and have done guest reviews for some of them in the past as a way to start up my own book blog, but that never happened. I still try to find time to write book reviews depending on whether I have the time or my interest in the book I read. Yet that led me here. Creating a blog to document what I love to do and my interactions working with various types of animals. I grew up living up among all sorts of animals, from dogs and cats to rabbits and parrots to chickens and ducks to goats and pigs. Maybe that's why I want to be a vet. But it didn't help that I was obsessed with all the shows on Animal Planet; that was when I dreamed about working for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or just the idea of being able to help out for the animal's well-being to the best of my abilities. Then as every year passes by and I continue to work with various species of animals, my resolve of becoming a veterinarian strengthened.
I hope you all enjoy my adventures as a student studying Animal Science and working with several species of animals.
